"Salmon in the Classroom" this is a programme for primary schools in the Outer Hebrides - to improve understanding of our freshwater environment and to promote the work done by the Outer Hebrides Fisheries Trust.

In September 2025 we visited Balivanich Primary School and Iochdar Primary School where our Senior Biologist, Paul Hopper, gave a presentation and then a quiz where there were prizes of stainless steel bottles. Everyone who attended also received pens and a keyring torch all with our logo on; this was to remind them of our visit. Donnie Maciver, Angling Promotions Officer brought in samples from a local loch to show the children what is present in their rivers. We were scheduled to do further visits there however the weather had other ideas and we had to return to Lewis.

In May 2026 we are scheduled to return to North Uist Primary School and Daliburgh Primary School to conclude our "Salmon in the Classroom" projects. We will give an update and pictures when completed.
